Fundraising Standards Board

The Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) runs the only self-regulating scheme for fundraising bodies in the UK. They are supported by the Office of the Third Sector, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Assembly Government

They are a not for profit company and are registered as a Community Interest Company. They were set up in 2006 and launched to the public in February 2007 after wide consultation with key individuals from a range of charitable and governmental bodies. After further discussions with other sector bodies, such as the Charity Commission, a Steering Group was set up, led by Simon Hebditch of CAF (Charities Aid Foundation). A proposal and business plan was submitted to the Government and approved. Funding was initially supplied by the Office of the Third Sector and the Scottish Government. The Chair and Chief Executive of the FRSB were appointed in February 2006.

The FRSB oversee a transparent and independent scheme for fundraising, encouraging high standards so that we can increase public confidence in charitable giving. They want people to be able to give with confidence to charities. They encourage charities and other fundraising organisations to become members of the FRSB scheme. As added reassurance for the public they can also listen and help to resolve any concerns or complaints they might have about our members fundraising.

Their visible mark is the tick logo which our members are expected to use on all their marketing and fundraising materials. This is the public's mark of reassurance; a sign of the charity’s commitment to best practice in all fundraising activities.

What this means for our supporters

Being a member of the FRSB means that CHICKS commit to the Fundraising Promise as set out by the FRSB. It also means that we have in place a procedure, in case of the event that any of our supporters wish to make a complaint. Imagine

Ben's mum is on drugs,
he doesn't see his dad,
his sister is autistic,
he's bullied at school,
he's only 8 years old

Don't you think Ben deserves a break?
