Depending on how much time you have available and how much money you want to raise there are hundreds of different events you can organise yourself. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Auction of promises – get your friends and colleagues to promise a service and auction the promises one evening - proceeds to CHICKS.
Charity Party: You could approach your local nightclub to organise a charity evening where you promote the night and the club donates a proportion of all takings to the charity. You can then decorate the venue with CHICKS balloons and promote the charity during the night – e.g £1 donation to CHICKS per song request.
Coffee morning / jumble sale: book your local community centre, church hall or similar and hold a coffee morning. You could charge a small fee on entry, sell home-made cakes and bric a brac and have collection pots and lots of information about CHICKS.
Dress up/Dress Down day at work: get your colleagues to pay a donation to CHICKS then come into work in casual or formal clothes.
Fashion Show: approach your local fashion stores or college fashion students and offer them the opportunity to showcase some of their clothes at a charity fashion show. Charge a small entry for spectators or charge stores to take part and have lots of information about the charity on the day.
Garden Party / BBQ: Hold a BBQ or garden party at your house. Charge people for tickets or sell BBQ food and drinks. Have lots of information about CHICKS and make sure you tell your guests about the charity.
Golf Day: organise a charity competition at your local golf course, teams pay to take part and enjoy a great day out in aid of CHICKS. Your local golf club will normally be willing to advise on how to organise a great day out.
Pub Quiz: Speak to the Landlord at your local pub and see if you could organise a big quiz. Teams pay to enter and see if you can get a couple of good prizes donated for the winners. Have information on the charity available on the night and ask the landlord f you can have a collection tin on the bar. All proceeds to CHICKS.
Supermarket bag-packing / collection: write to your local supermarket to see if you can get a group of volunteers to go along and pack bags for a donation to CHICKS, or hold a collection outside the supermarket.
Theatre evening: Contact your local theatre group to see if they would be willing to put on a performance where tickets would be sold in aid of CHICKS.
Wine tasting evening: Your local wine merchant may be willing to open for an evening to allow people in to sample different produce in exchange for you marketing the evening. A donation to CHICKS can be charged on the door and they may be willing to donate a percentage of sales to the charity. Again, collection pots and information on CHICKS will be about on the night.
Whatever you decide to do for CHICKS, organising events is great fun and very satisfying, so if you have a brilliant fundraising idea please contact the office on 01822 811020 or email mel@chicks.org.uk and we can help you make it a reality!
Molly comes home to a cold house
There's no food for dinner
Her Dad has passed out drunk
Tomorrow will be the same
She's only 10 years old.
Don't you think Molly deserves a break?
