CHICKS volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience which stays with them forever.
The volunteers’ role is to join in with whatever fun and games the week may bring: To get wet, sing, dance, laugh, play games, stay awake, ride bikes, climb, swim and lots, lots more!!! Also, volunteers should be sensible and aware; help, listen, support, encourage and mediate.
Okay don’t panic… you won’t be alone. There will be other volunteers and 3 members of staff helping and supporting your efforts. To see what people who have volunteered at CHICKS say click here
Don’t worry about the activities being too strenuous or challenging. Nothing is compulsory. We want you to have a positive experience too! And remember, our holidays are designed with children in mind.
Be over 18 years old.
Be able to volunteer for 6 consecutive days (the duration of a CHICKS holiday) and stay with us residentially.
Have completed a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and be able to provide two reference checks before you volunteer. (We apply for your CRB check on your behalf and request references once we have received your initial application).
Enjoy working with children and have the energy, enthusiasm and empathy to work with children from underprivileged and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Hopefully have fun, bring a smile and give the children a fantastic holiday!
CHICKS’ holidays are completely free of charge to both the children and our volunteers! All food, activities and treats are paid for. The only cost to you is transport to and from one of our retreats or pick up points. We are, however, able to reimburse volunteers with up to £50 travel expenses.
To apply as a volunteer with CHICKS please complete the online application and medical forms. To receive a booklet on volunteering with CHICKS or for further information please contact our co-ordination department.
