About Us
About Us

We know that childhood can be a difficult experience if you are having a tough time at home. At CHICKS we provide week long respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK, who would not otherwise have a break in that year.
In 2012, just over 1,100 children enjoyed a break with CHICKS, but this just wasn't enough. This year we aim to take 1,200 children. More than ever before!
The children we support come from a variety of backgrounds – those living in poverty, children that are being neglected or abused, either mentally, physically or sexually, children who have lost parents or even children who are full time young carers.
Whilst the UK is in a tough economic climate the demand for respite care has grown and we live by our own signature - giving children the Gift of Hope, teaching children that they can achieve anything and reach what may seem like impossible goals. With no government funding and relying solely on donations this is a big challenge!

We hope that our website will tell you all you need to know about CHICKS, do have a look around for volunteering opportunities, how to refer children, unique ways to give and see drawings from the children on camp, plus so much more.
In September 2012 we celebrated taking our 10,000th child on camp since we began in 1992. This was a huge landmark for the charity and we hope to help even more children in the future.
We always love hearing from supporters so if you have a question or would like to discuss getting involved please contact us.
Help us to make a difference...

Our volunteers are an integral part of the CHICKS team and are valued for their experience and personality. We have several opportunities and something for everyone no matter where you live or how much time you have to spare.
More...Childhood lasts such a short time; it should be a time of laughter, fun and learning. Many children go through their day to day lives carrying such heavy burdens. CHICKS give disadvantaged children the chance to be children, create memories and give them hope.
