Thomas Cook Children's Charity - Jig Camp
- Wednesday, 06 July 2011 00:00

Jig Camp at Moorland Retreat was the third to be supported by the Thomas Cook Children's Charity this year. With another five camps being funded, we are delighted to have provided free respite breaks for 48 disadvantaged children to date ... with another 77 children yet to enjoy a rewarding experience which they will never forget.
Jig Camp began with everyone getting to know each other by playing pool, bouncing on the trampolines and playing crazy cricket at our Moorland Retreat in Devon.
James's story ...
James is 8 years old and has had a difficult upbringing with much disruption. James and his sister were found looking for food in rubbish bins and there was also suspicion of alcohol abuse within the home.
James is a very kind and generous boy who interacts well with others. On Jig Camp, the Supervisors said that James joined in well, playing with younger members of the group. He would sometimes try and mix in with the 'big boys' and the more boisterous lads would respect that he is young and quite small and therefore looked out for him.
James was always smiling, cheeky, happy and funny whilst on camp. He loved imaginative free play with the castle maze.
On behalf of James and the other children on Jig Camp ... The CHICKS team would like to say 'thank you' to the Thomas Cook Children's Charity for their amazing support.

Throughout May we will be running our Change for CHICKS campaign. We're asking all our supporters to encourage their friends, family and colleagues to donate their small change to CHICKS. More...
