Celebrating in style

On Monday 2nd July, CHICKS held a very special 20th Garden party to say thank you to so many wonderful people who have been involved with the charity over the years. We were honoured that His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester was able to join us and celebrate such a memorable occasion, and would like to thank all the guests that travelled far and wide to join us for the special day.
Set in the beautiful gardens of CHICKS' Moorland Retreat, guests were invited to indulge in a traditional cream tea while admiring the grounds in which so many happy memories have been made. Guests were also given a tour of the retreat itself.

The party were kept entertained by a balloon artist, and the 32 children currently enjoying a free respite break at our two retreats enjoyed a magic show and were taught circus skills by a clown. A great time was had by all attending the event.
Although the day was rather wet, the smooth sounds of the saxophonist Martin Dale and the fantastic display of the history of CHICKS allowed guests to relax and share their own memories and experience of the charity.
His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester unveiled a plaque commemorating the special day, and enjoyed a tour of our retreat with our Chair of Trustees, Marion Luckhurst.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped us along their journey over the last 20 years, from welcoming children in tents to acquiring two retreats set in stunning countryside and coastal surroundings.
