CHICKS are planning to celebrate Christmas with some very special children this year! CHICKS, who provide disadvantaged children from across the UK with a free respite break are planning to hold their first ever Christmas Camps between the 22nd – 27th December at both their Moorland and Coastal Retreat in Devon and Cornwall!

A Magical Monday

A Monday Morning full of Happy Memories 

The children at CHICKS have enjoyed six days of fabulous activities and special events to celebrate our 9000th child coming on camp since we began in 1992.

Tango Camp, which started on Thursday 27th October and finishes today, Tuesday 1st November have enjoyed horse riding, spooky Halloween games and an extra treat as they enjoyed an exclusive session on the Ice in the centre of Plymouth with the Ice Angels. For most children this was the first time they had experienced ice skating and some took to it like ducks to water! 9000 Children - Thousands of Memories

At CHICKS we are incredibly excited as Thursday 27th October will see our 9000th child come on a CHICKS break since we began in 1992. This is a huge milestone for the charity that we are very proud of. It means that 9000 disadvantaged children from across the UK have benefitted from our free six day respite breaks making thousands of happy memories.

Christmas should be great fun for everyone, it's a time of excitement and seeing smiles light up on young faces, however not all children in the UK are lucky enough to enjoy such a merry Christmas. It can be tougher than ever for some underprivileged children. 

At CHICKS we want to give them a reason to smile, so each year we send out Christmas presents to every disadvantaged child who has benefitted from one of our life changing respite breaks, this gift can sometime be the only one they receive.

CHICKS is delighted to announce its new CEO

CHICKS is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer  -  Elanor Hoskin 

CHICKS, which provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK, is delighted to announce the appointment of its new CEO, Elanor Hoskin.

Elanor was previously Head of Fundraising and Communications at CHICKS and has been with the charity for seven years.

Marion Luckhurst, Chair of Trustees said: “We are delighted with the appointment. It is particularly satisfying when an internal candidate is successful in a strong field of external candidates. We wish Elanor every success and are confident that she will make a huge difference to the charity.”

Big Bear Walk Par Post Event Press Release

CHICKS Big Bear Walk at Par Athletic Club

Children's charity CHICKS would like to thank everyone who attended their Big Bear Walk at Par Athletic Club on Sunday 10th April. The walk was one mile long and afterwards children and families took part in teddy bear themed games, joining the charity's own Big Bear 'Mas' and the Firefighters mascot, 'Blaze Bear'. There was also lots of other entertainment and activities for family members of all ages to enjoy. Congratulations to The Graze Tug of War team from Tywardreath who once again sponsored this year's competition and also won the trophy narrowly beating the team from CHICKS in the final.

Crealy Press Release

CHICKS announced as Crealy's charity of the year

Devon's Crealy Great Adventure Park, near Exeter has announced the locally based charity, CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) as their chosen charity for the 2011/2012 season.

The Exeter based attraction will work closely with CHICKS over the forthcoming year to raise awareness and assist with fund raising for the registered charity, who are purely funded by donations and need to raise £1.45 million this year.
