We are over the moon that this year Derby Union of students has chosen us for their RAG charity. RAG stands for Raise and Give and it’s a national student led fundraiser. The students have chosen us alongside East Midlands Autism.
The students of Derby University give up valuable time alongside their studies to host a number of events throughout the year and are incredibly inventive when thinking of fundraising ideas; from bake sales to skydives to sponging each other and anything else in-between!
The students also hosted a whole week dedicated to fundraising. The week was jam packed with events from societies and sports teams and even individuals who wanted to help fundraise for the two charities. It was such a good week even Russell Kane came by to drop in and host a Comedy Central Evening! The approximate total raised by student groups alone in this week was £1164.89.
All library fines paid that week went to charity which amounted to a generous £1000!
The students will carry on volunteering their time and developing project management skills throughout the year as well as fundraising for CHICKS!
