In the run-up to the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 13 October 2019, we are shining the spotlight on three runners completing the race for #TeamCHICKS! This week, as our second featured runner, meet Jennifer Morton.
What is your relationship with CHICKS and how did you hear about us?
I have been a supporter of CHICKS for five years now, after spending some time between jobs volunteering on two respite breaks, which were some of the best and most rewarding experiences in my life!
What is it about CHICKS that made you want to fundraise for us?
CHICKS is such an important and brilliant charity, giving children who really need it a truly amazing experience and a break from their difficult lives, and helping them make friends and happy memories. I loved volunteering for CHICKS so much, and now that I have two young children of my own, I want to keep supporting CHICKS in different ways.
Why did you choose the Royal Parks Half Marathon?
I love running and wanted to challenge myself with the distance.
What are you doing to train for this challenge and how do you feel it is going?
My training is going well so far! I am running three or four times a week, including a couple of short runs during the week and a long run each weekend.
