Making Memories… Giving Hope

Daleside Day 2!

Day 2 Update from our first Daleside break, from Respite Break Manager Richard!

"Some late risers today made for a relaxed start to our first full day at Daleside. An excitable Monday night meant that some of the boys were very tired during breakfast.

The group took advantage of some dry(ish) weather in the morning to get out into the fresh air, taking a little walk around the expansive grounds. Also making the most of the weather conditions the group enjoyed flying some kites. It was very exciting to see our kite logo flying for real in the sky above the retreat.

Then the children really engaged in designing and making their own pizzas. A fun and creative way of making some lunch.

In the afternoon the group went to a local climbing wall. Under the calm guidance of the instructors all of the children had a lot of fun climbing. Even those who were apprehensive to start with achieved a lot.

By dinner time it was wonderful to see and hear new friendships being made between children, volunteers and staff alike. The dining room was full of chatter and laughter.

A great day - can't wait for more of the same tomorrow."
